April 15, 2005

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland gymnastics coach Bob Nelligan announced the signing of Lindsey Willner to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Terrapins. Willner, a Farmingville, New York native, becomes the fourth member of the team from that state. She joins Rachel Martinez, Rachel Colon and Gretchen Kittelberger.

Willner attends Sachem East High School where she broke the high school all-around record and earned all-county and all-state honors. She was a three-time Junior Olympic National competitor and four-time Regional and state floor champion.

Excelling in the classroom as well as athletics, Willner holds a 3.82 GPA and is a member of the National and Foreign Language Honor Societies. She earned the Presidential Academic Excellence award in Math and Social Studies. She plans to major in elementary education.

Willner along with fellow signee Kim Loew, a level-10 gymnast from Whithall, Pennsylvania will add talent and excitement to the 2005-2006 squad.
