Maryland Gymnasts Travel to Florida For NCAA Regionals

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Despite not qualifying as a team, four Maryland gymnasts will compete individually at NCAA Regionals.

Rachel Martinez will represent the Terps in the all-around competition. Alexandria Gatch hopes to surpass a third place finish on balance beam at the 2004 NCAA Regionals. Ginny Scott, notched a 9.80 or higher in 7 meets this season on floor exercise and will look to continue her consistency on that event. Mandy Pascual will represent Maryland on uneven bars.

These four Maryland gymnasts hope to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Auburn, Alabama, April 21-23. The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth. Individual specialists (not part of an advancing team) will have to win their event in order to advance the NCAA Championships.
