Terps Qualify For NCAA Southeast Regionals

April 3, 2007

Three Maryland gymnasts have qualified to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on April 14 in Morgantown, West Virginia; two Terps are named as alternates.

2007 EAGL Rookie of the Year Brandi George will compete in the all-around. Senior Angela Ferg qualified on the vault for the second year in a row. Freshman Talia Tossone qualified to compete on the balance beam.

Allison Dama is the alternate on the uneven bars and Rachel Colon is the balance beam alternate.

In addition to the six qualifying teams, five all-around competitors who are not on a qualifying team and one individual event specialist per event qualified to the six NCAA regional championships.

The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors, who are not on an advancing team, from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in Salt Lake City, Utah, April 26-28, hosted by the University of Utah.

In addition, the event winners at the regional championships will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or the all-around qualifiers.
