King, George Receive EAGL Weekly Honors

Feb. 13, 2007

Maryland freshmen Candice King and Brandi George earned East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) honors for the week of February 12 to February 19, the league announced today.

King (Plano, Texas/Spring Creek Academy) was named the EAGL Specialist of the Week. In a dual meet against George Washington last week, King set personal season-highs on the vault and uneven bars. Her 9.900 score on the vault gave her first place and is the highest score earned by any Terrapin gymnast this season. She placed second on the uneven bars with a score of 9.775.

George (Orlando, Fla./ William R. Boone) claimed the EAGL Rookie of the Week title. She received a season-high all-around score of 39.150 in the George Washington dual meet. George also placed first on the beam (9.800) and floor exercise (9.850).

The weekly honors are voted on by a committee of EAGL sports information directors.

The Terps will travel to New Hampshire this Saturday to face the Wildcats in a dual-meet at 7:00 p.m.
