Gymnastics Hosts West Virginia Friday

Jan. 16, 2008

The Maryland gymnastics team will host fellow East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) member West Virginia Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the Comcast Pavilion. Admission is free to the public and the team will autograph posters following the competition.

In their season-opener at home last Friday, the No. 34 Terrapins fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes, 193.850-190.800.

Despite the loss, the team picked up four individual wins; sophomore Brandi George won the all-around and balance beam, sophomore Allison Dama took first on the uneven bars, and sophomore Michele Brenner tied for first place on the floor exercise.

The No. 30 Mountaineers (1-4) are coming off a loss on January 11; West Virginia scored a 190.300 to finish third in a tri-meet at Michigan with Arkansas.

The series record between Maryland and West Virginia is 15-33-1.
