As a Sophomore (2012): Competed on bars in all 13 meets including the EAGL Championships and NCAA Fayetteville Regional...named to the All-EAGL bars first team...earned EAGL Specialist of the Week honors for Jan. 11...led the squad with a 9.845 RQS on beam...scored a career-high 9.875 in back-to-back meets (3/3, 3/11)...named to the EAGL All-Academic team.

As a Freshman (2011): Did not compete...named to EAGL All-Academic Team.

Before Maryland: Competed at Daggetts Gymnastics in Agawam, Mass., for 11 years...won multiple state championship awards...four-time regional champion...Junior Olympic floor exercise champion in 2009...fourth place at Junior Olympics on vault in 2009 and fourth place on beam in 2010...four-year honor roll student.

Personal: Karen Tang...daughter of Jackie and Xueling Tang...first generation in her family to go to college...came to Maryland because it was close to home...also recruited by West Virginia, New Hampshire and North Carolina State...favorite advice is hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard...listens to music before every meet.
