Learn from the best! Maryland head coach Missy Meharg led the Terrapins to five NCAA titles in her 20-plus year career, including three crowns in four years from 2005-08. She can help field hockey players improve their skills at the Missy Meharg School of Hockey, brought to you by Advanced Play, Inc. Two sessions will be held at the University of Maryland's state-of-the-art Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. One session will also take place on the campus of McDaniel College in Westminster, Md., which offers a variety of exceptional playing surfaces. Click on the link above to download a camp brochure.
CAMP INFORMATION
REGISTER ONLINE: Credit Card and e-check payment is available at www.umterps.com, click on the field hockey page. Confirmation will be sent electronically through thriva.com. Online registration is avilable through Friday, July 10, 2009. A processing fee will apply to all credit card and e-check payments.
MAIL-IN PAYMENT: Personal checks will be accepted as a mode of payment and MUST BE RECEIVED BY MAIL BY JULY 8, 2009. After July 8, 2009, all payments must be paid in cash or certified check and hand-carried to check-in! Please make checks payable to Advanced Play. Do NOT staple check to registration form.
ONLY online registrations will be accepted after JULY 8, 2009. Mailed applications will NOT be processed after July 8, 2009.
DEPOSIT: A non-refundable deposit of $260 must accompany the enclosed application to secure a registration spot. Upon receipt of the deposit and application form, campers will be sent confirmation and additional
camp materials.
HEALTH FORMS: Health Forms and information packet will be sent to all registered participants by email. All forms will also be available to download at www.umterps.com and go to the Maryland Field Hockey page. Health Forms are DUE BY MAIL BY JULY 8, 2009. After July 8, 2009, forms must be hand-carried to check-in.
EXPRESS CHECK-IN: If you have paid in full and submitted your health form with all three (3) signatures (physician, parent and player) by July 8, 2009, you can proceed to express check on the first day of camp.
PHYSICALS: All participants are required to have a physical within ONE YEAR of camp date. Physician's and parent's signature is required.

TEAM SESSION (July 16-19): * OPEN*
The team ONLY session is an open invitation to the first 16 teams to enroll and secure their space in camp with all deposits received. The intent of the session is to prepare teams for their upcoming fall seasons and postseason opportunities. Teams will be trained together with focus on fundamentals, tactical strategies, team defense and attack, mental preparation, leadership and the quest to be tournament champions. The 2009 session will feature a mock Junior Women's World Cup tournament.
ADVANCED INDIVIDUAL/TEAM SESSION (July 19-22 and July 25-28): *OPEN*
Held on the campus of the University of Maryland at the state-of-the-art field hockey turf facility!
Do you want to develop your tactical and technical ability?
Are you familiar with dead ball situations?
Are you capable of executing penalty corner situations?
Do you want to enhance your 1 v. 1 skills both offensively and defensively?
This is an open invitation to individuals or teams, advanced level or beginners. All campers will have skill instruction with players of similar ability and experience. Performance-level training is offered. Topics that will be covered include: individual and group instruction, offensive and defensive techniques and specialized goalkeeping instruction.
CAMP DIRECTOR MISSY MEHARG
Missy Meharg, head coach of the 1993, 1999, 2005, 2006 & 2008 NCAA Champion Maryland field hockey program, is in her 13th year as director of Advanced Play, Inc., hockey camps and clinics.
The 21-year head coach has directed the Terrapins to five NCAA titles and 11 national semifinal appearances. Her Terrapins have won seven Atlantic Coast Conference championships, including the 2008 title. She has coached 78 All-Americans and nearly 200 Academic Honor Roll student-athletes. Meharg has developed 35 players that have competed on the international stage, including 13 U.S. National Team members and four that currently compete at the highest level for the Stars & Stripes.
Meharg has been named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Coach of the Year seven times and the ACC Coach of the Year four times as well. She has been named Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year 12 times during her remarkable career. Meharg is an accomplished and experienced international coach as well. She was a member of the U.S. National Team's coaching staff from 1993-97, including an appearance in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, the 1994 World Cup in Dublin and the 1995 Pan American games in Argentina. In 1994 and 1995 she served as the coach of the U.S. Under-21 team.
Meharg was a two-time All-America forward at the University of Delaware and enjoyed an impressive playing career with the U.S. National Team from 1985-91. During that time she was a member of the 1986 World Cup team and an alternate to the 1987 Pan American and 1988 Olympic teams. She finished her playing career as a member of the 1991 Pan Am team and the 1991 U.S. squad that unfortunately missed qualifying for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.
