October 18, 1998

College Park, Md. - Sophomore midfielder Carla Tagliente (Cortland, N.Y.) scored with 5:24 remaining in the first sudden-death overtime period, lifting seventh-ranked Maryland (11-5) to a 5-4 victory over No. 18 Boston University (9-5). Tagliente's game-winner was her second goal of the game and was assisted by freshman back Autumn Welsh (Macungie, Pa.).

Maryland appeared to seal the victory when freshman forward Dina Rizzo (Walpole, Mass.) broke a 3-3 deadlock with 10:37 left to play in the second half. The visiting Terriers, however, got an unassisted goal from junior forward Danielle DeCoste with 3:06 remaining to force overtime.

The Terps got first half goals from senior back Kasey Heiser (Schaefferstown, Pa.) and Jen Pratt (Greene, N.Y.). Tagliente and Rizzo both scored in the second half.

Maryland's next game is on Tuesday against the University of Pennsylvania (6-5) at home at 7:30 p.m.
