#3 Terrapins Roll Past Wake, 5-0

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 3 Maryland field hockey team (8-1, 2-0 ACC) notched its 100th win at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex Saturday with a dominating 5-0 victory over ACC opponent Wake Forest (1-7, 0-2 ACC).
The Terps are now 100-9 all-time at the Complex and (.917) and are currently on a 36-game home win streak.
Frazer put Maryland on the board just under eight minutes into the game. After a penalty corner, Frazer knocked in the goal off of senior co-captain Jemma Buckley's saved shot.
In the 31st minute, freshman Katie Gerzabek added the Terrapins' second goal. She drove into the circle and scored to put Maryland up 2-0 before the break.
Frazer pushed the score to 3-0 Maryland when she hit in a shot just 40 seconds into the second half. Witmer scored the Terps' fourth goal in the 38th minute when she tipped in a pass from Gerzabek on a corner setup.
Witmer added Maryland's fifth goal in the 47th minute when she brought the ball all the way up the field and scored on a hard shot from the top of the circle into the right corner of the back of the cage. Wake Forest changed goalkeepers to Letitia Nichols after the Terps' fifth goal.
Maryland outshot Wake Forest 17-10 and penalty corners were even at five apiece.
Starting Wake Forest keeper Kaitlin Ruhf had four saves. Nichols had two, while Demon Deacons defenders Jess McFadyen and Lauren Greenwald accounted for three defensive saves.
Up next, Maryland will play host to Princeton (3-4) Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex. The Tigers and the Terrapins last met in 2010 at Princeton, with the Tigers winning 3-2.
The Terps will play host to ACC opponent Virginia (4-6, 0-1 ACC) Friday at 5 p.m. at the Complex as well. The Cavaliers are coming off of a 5-4 double overtime loss to No. 6 Boston College Friday. Admission to both games is free.
