Terrapin alumni from all over the world return to campus every year
Barb Weinberg came to College Park in the summer of 2010 as a volunteer assistant coach to work with the Terrapin goalkeeping unit.
"I am so excited for the opportunity to join the University of Maryland field hockey staff," Weinberg said. "It is an honor to be working alongside some of the most experienced coaches in the country and with such a talented group of athletes. The work ethic and winning tradition at Maryland are two things that I admire. I look forward to assisting in any way I can to help with the program's continued success."
Weinberg, a 2005 graduate of the University of Iowa, was a two-time All-American for the Hawkeyes and carried a save percentage of .793 in her senior year. She led the Hawkeyes in saves in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
She was named to the US U-23 team in 2002 and was named to the national team in 2003. In 2006 she played in the World Cup Qualifying tournament in Rome and the World Cup in Madrid. She has 12 international caps in her career. In 2008, Weinberg was an alternate in goal for the US national team.
