As a redshirt freshman in 2011: Saw action in 18 games...scored Terps' fourth goal in win over Iowa in NCAA First Round (Nov. 12)...notched a goal vs. Virginia off of a rebounded shot (Sept. 30)...scored first career goal at Temple (Aug. 29)

Redshirted in 2010 season.

Before Maryland: Played field hockey all four years...served as captain in her senior season and helped lead the team to first state championship appearance in almost 20 years...team went undefeated in Central League in her senior year and she was named to the All-Central League team...also ran track...ran the 400m in state championships in senior year...played club hockey for WC Eagles...gold medalist in National Field Hockey Festival in 2008-09.

Personal: Shelby Katherine Sydnor...daughter of George and Katherine Sydnor...mother played volleyball and ran track at Villanova...father played football at Villanova for three years before transferring to Syracuse...father played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1982-1983...has three siblings, Brice, Lydia and Lily...member of National Honor Society and Distinguished Honor Roll...competed in horseback riding...came to Maryland because of academics and the chance to play for a superior Division I team.
