Terps Go 3-0

LAST WEEK: The Terps went 3-0 last week, posting victories over Towson State (4-0), Boston College (6-1) and Boston University (6-1).

TERP OPPONENTS THIS WEEK: Maryland hosts the second annual Terrapin Invitational this weekend. The Terps first round opponent will be Georgetown, which is currently 3-1 after losing to Dartmouth 5-4 in overtime this past weekend. American and Rhode Island are the other two teams competing this weekend.

ON A TEAR: Freshman forward Carla Tagliente (Cortland, N.Y) led the Terps in scoring last week with six goals in three games. After scoring two goals versus Towson State and a goal against Boston College, she recorded her first career hat trick by scoring three goals versus Boston University. Tagliente leads the Terps with nine goals this season.

SCORING STREAKS: Junior midlfielder Jen Pratt (Greene, N.Y.) and freshman back Marloes Platzek (Delft, The Netherlands) have at least one point in all six games this season. Last week, Pratt had an assist versus Towson State, a goal and an assist versus Boston College and four assists versus Boston University. Pratt leads the Terps with nine assists this season. Platzek scored a goal versus Towson State, had a goal and an assist versus Boston College and scored a goal versus Boston University.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS: By scoring a goal versus Boston College, senior forward Lynsey McVicker (Balleymoney, Ireland) became just the fourth player in Maryland field hockey history to score 40 goals during her college career. McVicker scored her 41st career goal on Sunday versus Boston University. In addition, McVicker assisted on five goals in the Terps' three games last week.
