#10 Maryland Heads to #19 Nebraska

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The 10th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team will head west to take on No. 19 Nebraska Wednesday in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Lincoln, Neb. The Terrapins (3-1) and the Huskers (5-1) will play at 8 p.m. eastern time in Nebraska's Devaney Center.

In the Terrapins' last outing, they beat American, 94-54, in College Park Wednesday. Tianna Hawkins led the Terps with 25 points and nine rebounds. Malina Howard added 17 points, Alicia DeVaughn had 14, and Katie Rutan added 10.
Maryland started freshman Chloe Pavlech at point guard for the first time and she responded with eight assists and just two turnovers. As a team, the Terps dished 29 assists to 14 turnovers. Laurin Mincy added seven assists.
The Terps and the Huskers have met once - on March 25, 2008 in the NCAA Second Round in College Park. Maryland won 76-64 behind 18 points and 12 rebounds from Crystal Langhorne and 19 points from Kristi Toliver.
Maryland is 5-0 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Terps and Georgia Tech are the only two teams that are unbeaten in the Challenge.
The Terrapins lead the country in rebounding margin by an astounding +28.0. They are top 10 in the country in assists per game (3), scoring margin (5) and assist/turnover ratio (10). Hawkins is second in the country with her field goal percentage of .711. She led the nation last year. DeVaughn is fourth in the same statistic with her percentage of .690.
After Wednesday's matchup, the Terrapins will take on No. 2 Connecticut (5-0) Monday in Hartford, Conn. as part of the Jimmy V Classic. The Terps and the Huskies will play at 7 p.m. in the XL Center. Monday's game will be shown live on ESPN2 and can be heard on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network on 1300 AM (Baltimore), 570 AM (DC) and online on UMTerps.com.
