COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's basketball team earned one of the top four seeds in the NCAA Division I Championship, the NCAA announced on Monday night. The Terps are the No. 1 seed in the Spokane Regional and open with local-foe Coppin State on Sunday, March 23 in Comcast Center.

It is the second time in school history the Terrapins earn one of the top four seeds in the championship. Maryland received its first-ever No. 1 seeding in 1989.

Maryland is 30-3 on the season, with its losses coming to teams ranked in the top 15, including two against teams in the top five. The Terrapins are 13-3 against teams who made it into this year's tournament.

The Terps begin their postseason facing the Eagles, who earned the automatic bid out of the MEAC. Coppion is 22-11 entering the post season. Nebraska and Xavier also come to College Park. The Huskers were awarded the No. 8 seed in the Spokane Region after going 20-11 on the season. They take on the ninth-seeded Musketeers, who were 24-8, in the first round.

Nebraska and Xavier tip off the NCAA Tournament action at Comcast Center at noon, followed by the Terps and the Eagles who will tip off at approximately 2:30 p.m. or 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Four more teams will be beginning their title hunt in College Park. From the Oklahoma City Regional, third-seeded Duke (23-9) takes on No. 14 seed Murray State (24-7) at 7 p.m. Sixth-seeded Arizona State (21-10) and No. 11 Temple (21-12) square off 30 minutes following.
