GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland's Lynetta Kizer is one of five members selected to the 2009 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball All-Freshman Team, the league office announced today.

Kizer, a 6-foot-4 center, was an integral piece of the Terrapins' first regular-season conference title in 20 years, averaging 11.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game - third on the team in both categories. She ranked in the top-10 in the ACC in rebounding and field goal percentage (49.8 pct) and was named ACC Rookie of the Week two straight times in late January at the outset of conference play.

The Preseason ACC Rookie of the Year, Kizer is joined on the All-Freshman Team by Cierra Bravard (Florida State), Bonae Holston (NC State), Shenise Johnson (Miami) and Chay Shegog (North Carolina). It marks the 10th time this decade that a Terrapin rookie was selected for All-Freshman recognition, a list that includes her current teammates Marah Strickland (2008), Marissa Coleman (2006) and Kristi Toliver (2006).

Kizer tied for the team lead in double-doubles this season with eight, including a 22-point, 10-rebound effort in a road win at Georgia Tech and Sunday's 10-point, 10-rebound performance to help the Terps clinch the ACC title. The versatile post player also ranked second on the team in blocks (25) and steals (34).

Kizer and the fourth-ranked Terps are the No. 1 seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament and will face the winner of the NC State-Wake Forest game on Friday at 3 p.m.
