Hungarian National Team Outlast Terps

COLLEGE PARK, MD. -- Senior co-captain Sonia Chase scored 26 points and collected 10 rebounds in an 82-74 loss to the Hungarian National Team in an exhibition game this evening at Cole Field House. Fellow co-captain Stephanie Cross added 23 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore center Branka Bogunovic scored 12 points and collected 10 rebounds.

The Terps led 39-34 at the half, but the transition game of the Hungarian team proved to be the difference late in the game as the visitors shot 63 percent in the second-half, converting several fast breaks.

"We knew coming in that the Hungarian Team was a great transition team. We are not ready defensively for that kind of play yet," said Maryland head coach Chris Weller. "We need to work on our transition defense and really key on making it better. It is a lot easier to see the problems against an opponent than it is in practice."

Judit Balogh led the National Team with 34 points and 10 rebounds.

The Terps next play at Rutgers on Saturday, Nov. 15, in the season opener.
