Maryland Head Coach Brenda Frese
"I really liked the start we had. Given the long break I thought we came out ready to play. I thought we dictated defensively which lead to our transition game. It was fun to see the energy, effort and unselfishness that we played with. We made the extra pass and the way we moved the basketball today was tremendous."
On defending Danielle Fiacco:
"We talked about their game ran through an inside-out offense. Our post defense did a tremendous job of pushing her away from the basket and making her have to make tough catches. We were physical with her. It was nice to have our length as we were able to match her size with our length."
On the team's long break:
"We spent a lot of time on our team over the break. We thought that we did a tremendous job coming out fast. I think our team did a tremendous job with the break and bringing themselves back in top condition."
On the quick turnaround:
"These guys play a ton of games ever since they were young. Tonight we were able to play a lot of people and not have a whole lot of minuets. Looking at the depth we have across the board I think we were able to manage that well."
On the lack of outside shooting:
"I think we have shown that we won't shoot like this in back-to-back games. We have shot like that in the past and then we will come out and do a better job in terms of our focus. Some of that is just getting back in our rhythm. Look at Kim Rodgers this is the first time she has been back in the rotation in three weeks. A lot of our rhythm will come back. This game will help us get ready for our game tomorrow in that sense."
"They are a tremendous team. We are very excited about the potential match up with another undefeated top-25 team. Elena Delle Donne is extremely talented as well as their entire team. They have had a great season so far. As a competitor, it would be a great match up to have."
Junior forward Tianna Hawkins
On the team's performance:
"Our focus was there the whole game. We had 17 days off so we all knew that playing well today was important. I think our entire team played well."
Lafayette Head Coach Dianne Nolan
On the opportunity to play Maryland:
"We knew it was going to be an uphill battle. To Maryland's credit, I think they go from the defensive end to the offensive end as best as I have seen in the country. Their transition is incredible. I thought we had some decent looks in the first half, but nothing seemed to go down. Rebounding was kind of what I expected. We were up against the top rebounding team in the country. We are normally a good rebounding team. We tried to get creative with boxing out, but they are just tenacious on the boards. I thought our two-three zone held things in check the way we needed them to be. Offensively, we relaxed a little in the second half and were able to score a couple buckets."
Freshman forward Emily Homan
On playing against Maryland's defense:
"[Maryland's] girls are a lot bigger than the girls we usually play and they were bodying us up. I think we need to get used to that and be able to deliver under pressure when someone is pushing you. We didn't really do that today as well as we would have liked."
On what she takes from the experience:
"[Maryland] is one of the top teams in the country. It was fun to be in that arena and to be here. We learned from it. We learned what we need to do and we will take it into tomorrow and into league play and into the rest of the season."
