Strength & Conditioning
In the highly competitive world of collegiate athletics, the off-court preparation of the student-athlete is a critical component in the on-field success of any Division I program. In the summer of 2010, head coach Brenda Frese took her team's strength & conditioning to the next level with the hiring of Kyle Tarp, a coach with a basketball-specific, nutrition-based system of getting athletes in the best shape of their lives. In 2012, Tarp began working with the Maryland men's team as well. Tarp and Frese hired Katie Fowler in the summer of 2012 to assist with the women's team. Thanks to generous donations and the strong beief in the importance of fitness, the Maryland basketball programs open the Basketball Performance Center in 2011. The facility is only used by the basketball programs and it focused on basketball-specific workouts. |
