Sophomore Brandon York (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) has earned the highest ranking of his career, No. 15, by Amateur Wrestling News Magazine. York, at 13-1, has won two of the three tournaments that he has entered this season and placed in the top three for all of them.
On Nov. 7 at the Coppin Open, York won his first three matches by a combined score of 21-3 and pinned Delaware State's Damien Green in 3:14 of the championship match to win his second consecutive title.
His second win at Penn State marked his sixth tournament title in his last eight attempts.
York and the Terps open the dual season on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m. against Coppin State in Ritchie Coliseum.
