Mack Accepts Head Coaching Position At Manheim Central High

June 16, 2005

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Former Maryland standout and assistant coach Shane Mack has accepted the head coaching position at Manheim Central High (Pa.). In addition to his four seasons on the mat, Mack spent the last two as an assistant for Pat Santoro.

"We wish Shane and his family the best and are excited for him to have this opportunity," Santoro said. "Shane did a tremendous job here at Maryland, and he has been important to us turning the program around. We wish him nothing but the best."

As a student-athlete at Maryland, Mack obtained accolades on and off the mat. As a three-time NCAA qualifier (1996-1998), Mack received the Unsung Hero Award as a junior, and was designated a captain his senior year, a season in which Mack was ranked in the top 10 nationally by Amateur Wrestling News.

Before returning to Maryland as an assistant in 2003, Mack served stints as an assistant coach at Solanoco High (Pa.) and as a head coach at Ithaca High (N.Y.). He also spent one season on the UNC Greensboro staff before taking the position in College Park.
