#24 Terps Head to Des Moines For Nationals

Asper enters the tournament as the highest seeded Terp. The senior is seeded fifth at 174 pounds and is looking to become just the second Maryland wrestler all-time to earn All-American honors in three seasons. Hudson Taylor is the only three-time All-American in Maryland history winning the title in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Asper has finished sixth at 165 pounds the last two years. The Parkton, Md., native faces Kent State's Sam Wheeler in the opening round. Should Asper advance, he will take on the winner of the match between Navy's Matt Miller and John-Martin Cannon of Buffalo.
After missing out on All-American status by one match last year, Sheptock will open with Wyoming's Shane Woods. The junior defeated Woods in February by a 13-2 margin when Maryland and Wyoming faced off at the NWCA National Duals. With a victory, Sheptock will face the winner of Boise State's Jacob Swartz and Campbell's James Cook.
At 133, Geoffrey Alexander has been drawn into the bracket's pigtail match against Cal Poly's Devon Lotito. Making his second consecutive appearance in tournament, Alexander will draw third-seeded Tyler Graff of Wisconsin should he advance.
Second seed and 2012 All-American Kendric Maple of Oklahoma awaits Frank Goodwin at 141. Goodwin matched up with Maple at Midlands in December with the Oklahoma junior earning a 12-4 major decision. This is Goodwin's first berth in the NCAA tournament.Christian Boley rounds out Maryland's 2013 participants. Boley faces 10th-seeded Scott Schiller of Minnesota in the opening round with the winner facing off against seventh-seeded Nathan Schiedel of Binghamton or Duke's Conner Hartmann.

The ESPN family of networks are providing comprehensive coverage of the 2013 NCAA Championships.
ESPN3's coverage will begin at noon ET Thursday with coverage of four mats for all sessions. Friday's coverage will begin at 11 a.m. ET and include four mats. On Saturday, it will cover the medal round beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
ESPNU will begin its coverage with the quarterfinal round at 11 a.m. ET on Friday and will have exclusive coverage of the semifinals at 7 p.m. ET. ESPNU will continue its coverage on Saturday with the medal round at 11 a.m. ET.
The championship bouts will be carried live on ESPN beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Leading It Off
-Maryland travels to Des Moines for the 2013 NCAA Championships after placing third at the ACC Championships two weekends ago.
-The Terps finished the regular season with a 14-8 record and a 3-2 mark in the ACC. Maryland enters the postseason ranked 24th in the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Coaches Poll.
-Asper is looking to become just the second three-time All-American in school history after placing sixth the last two years at 165.
-Alexander, Boley and Sheptock are all making their second consecutive trips the NCAAs, while Goodwin is a first-time participant.
