COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland Athletic Department, The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) have announced an agreement that will please wrestling fans in the state of Maryland. On Saturday, March 8, 2008, the MPSSAA state wrestling tournament and the ACC Wrestling Championship are scheduled to be held in College Park, Md. The state championships will be held in Cole Field House and the ACC Championship will be held in Comcast Center.

The MPSSAA and the ACC have teamed up, adjusting competition times and admission prices so that fans can enjoy both events. On March 8, the MPSSAA state tournament semifinals will begin at 11:00 a.m., and the ACC semifinals will begin at 2:00 p.m. The MPSSAA finals will move up one hour, and are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The ACC finals will be scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. Thus, wrestling fans will have the opportunity to see both the high school championship semifinals and finals at Cole Field House and the ACC semifinals and finals at Comcast Center in their entirety. The MPSSAA will also adjust the consolation semifinal round, which normally occurs after the semifinals, to begin at 11:00 a.m. on the four outer mats at Cole, while the semifinals are contested on the four center mats.

Both the MPSSAA and the ACC plan to extend a ticket discount to fans presenting a ticket stub or tournament pass from the other's tournament. All spectators of the MPSSAA event will receive half-price admission to the ACC Championship by presenting a MPSSAA ticket stub at the Comcast Center ticket window. And in turn, those from the ACC Championship who may wish to catch the action of the MPSSAA event will receive $5 off the admission price to the MPSSAA tournament by presenting a ticket stub at the Cole Field House ticket window. For more information, contact the MPSSAA office at (410.767.0376) or the University of Maryland ticket office at (800.462.8377).
