Maryland Has Strong Showing at East Stroudsburg Open

EAST STROUDSBERG, Pa - The Maryland wrestling team made their annual trip to East Stroudsburg this weekend and came home with solid performances in numerous weight classes. Seniors Jeff Whalen, at 150 pounds, (Camp Hill, PA/Cedar Cliff High School) and Craig Garrison, at 177, (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes High School) placed third in their respective weight classes and freshman Joe Guzzio (Greensboro, NC/Greensboro) finished fifth in the 118 weight division.

Other strong performances came from senior Shane Mack who reached the quarterfinals at 142. lbs.; freshman Mark Mansueto, who at 126 finished in the top eight; and junior Ted Harlan, who claimed sixth place at 134 lbs.

The Terps next travel to the Penn State Open on Saturday, December 7th and they will open a new era of wrestling at home in Ritchie Coliseum on December 12th versus Coppin State and Howard University.
