COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Terrapins started early and piled on the points as quickly as possible, as the they opened a commanding lead on their way to a 25-13 win over the Duke Blue Devils at Ritchie Coliseum. While all three seniors notched victories for Maryland, it was the freshmen who stepped up as Joe Guzzio (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley), at 118 pounds, started the match with a first period pin and Josh Weidman (Hershey, Pa./Hershey), at 158 lbs., won a crucial decision, 7-5 in overtime.

Once again, the Terrapin senior tri-captains each had strong performances. At 142 lbs., Shane Mack (Lancaster, Pa./Ithaca (NY)) posted a 14-2 major decision of Cameron Stock and Jeff Whalen (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) followed up with a 4-1 win over Deuce Harris at 150. Craig Garrison (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) clinched the match for the Terps at 177 lbs. with a pin of Dion Santo at 1:19.

For the Blue Devils, senior Chris Heckel defeated Mark Mansueto at 126 lbs., junior Matt Mapes improved his overall record to 13-1 with an 11-3 major decision of Chad Masemer, and Jesse Raia and Alex Hunt won their matches at 190 lbs. and the heavyweight division respectively.

The Terps even their overall record at 5-5 and improve their conference record to 1-3. Duke falls to 5-5 and remains winless in the ACC at 0-3.

Maryland closes out the regular season tomorrow, Sunday Feb. 15, versus American University at 1 p.m in Ritchie Coliseum. The Terrapins travel to Duke University for the ACC Championships on March 7.
