Chris Vitale became the volunteer assistant coach for the University of Maryland wrestling team for the 2010-2011 season.

Vitale comes to Maryland after having spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at East Stroudsburg University, where he helped the team tie a school record for most dual meet wins in a season. Vitale also earned a Master's of Education with a concentration in sport management while at ESU.

Prior to joining the staff at East Stroudsburg, Vitale wrestled for four years at Lehigh. As a junior, Vitale finished seventh at the NCAA championship at 165 pounds. Vitale won the Coaches Award his senior year and graduated with a B.S. in marketing.
