Feb. 11, 1997 Maryland Drops 23-8 Decision to VirginiaCOLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland wrestling team (8-3)lost for the first time at home in 1996 to a vibrant Virginiateam (8-5) by the score of 23-8. The Cavaliers took seven ofthe ten matches to gain control of the meet. Maryland All- America candidate James "The Guzzler" Guzzio (Sr;New Haven, CT) remained undefeated with a record of 30-0 bydefeating Virginia's Jason Mutarelli by a score of 4-3. Guzzioremains ranked No. 8 in the country and is the only undefeatedwrestler in the ACC. Other winners for the Terps were ArashAlizadeh (Sr; Herndon, VA) and Damon Stephens (Sr; UpperMarlboro, MD).
