Maryland Beats N.C. State, 32-6, For First Conference Win

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland wrestling team improved itsrecord to 5-0 and won its first conference match of the year today bybeating N.C. State 32-6 at Cole Field House. After losing the first twomatches, the Terps came back to win the final eight.

Winners included All- America candidate James "The Guzzler" Guzzio(Sr; Norwich, CT); Shane Mack (Jr; Ithaca, NY); Jeff Whalen (Sr; CampHill, PA); Arash Alizadeh (Sr; Herndon, VA); Damon Stephens (Sr; UpperMarloboro, MD); Craig Garrison(Jr; Pompton Lakes, NJ); Brian Layman (Sr;Millersville, MD), and Dave Vernier (Sr; Gaithersburg, MD).

Guzzio improves his record to 24-0. He remains the only wrestler inthe Atlantic Coast Conference who is undefeated.

The Terps will try for win number six of Wednesday night, when theytravel to George Mason for a match that will begin at 7:30.
