GREENSBORO, N.C. - Three University of Maryland student-athletes earned spots on the 2008 Academic All-Atlantic Coast Conference tennis teams, the league office announced Thursday.

Juniors Nickolai Nielsen and Andrew Orban were named to the men's team, while sophomore Maggie MacKeever earned a berth to the women's squad.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic career.

For Nielsen it was his second straight appearance on the team. Orban and MacKeever were first-time choices.

A native of Farnum, Denmark, Nielsen led the Terps in singles victories, posting a 19-12 mark in 2007-08.

Orban, a native of Fayetteville, N.C., was just behind Nielsen in singles wins with a 17-12 record. He was also one of the top doubles players in the nation.

Orban and teammate Boris Fetbroyt earned All-America honors in doubles play, advancing to the round of 32 in the NCAA Championships. The duo was 16-4 in doubles action this past season.

In just her second season in a Terps uniform, MacKeever, who hails from Rockville, Md., had nine singles victories and was part of nine doubles wins.
