ATHENS, Ga. - Senior Maros Horny and junior John Collins begin play at the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Doubles Championship on Thursday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Georgia.

The Terrapin duo square off against Jarryd Botha and Ricky Doverspike of Alabama in the opening round of the 32-team tournament at 2 p.m., Thursday. Should Collins and Horny advance, they will face the winner of the match between second-seeded Steve Johnson and Roberto Quiroz of USC and Tulsa's Clifford Marsland and Ashley Watling on Friday.

At the ITA All-American Championships in October, Horny and Collins defeated Botha and Doverspike, 8-5.

Collins and Horny are the first Maryland doubles team to compete in the tournament since 2008, when All-Americans Boris Fetbroyt and Andrew Orban reached the round of 16.

This year, the tandem is 23-12 with seven victories over nationally-ranked opponents including a win over third-seeded Kevin King and Juan Spir of Georgia Tech.

In the fall, Collins and Horny became the first-ever Terrapins to win the USTA/ITA Atlantic Region doubles championship and earned an automatic berth in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships.

All matches in the tournament are the best of three sets. Regular scoring and a 12-point tiebreaker at six games all will be used for all matches.

Match times are to be determined.
