    COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 38 Maryland men's tennis team begins its 2012 schedule Friday against Richmond and will close the weekend against No. 30 Louisville.

    Both matches will take place at the Tennis Center at College Park. The match against the Spiders is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday. The Terps will face the Cardinals at 11 a.m. Sunday. Live stats will be available for the Louisville match.

    Maryland enters the season with three ranked players. In singles, freshman Vlad Stefan is ranked 121st after a 10-2 fall season including a title at the UVa Ranked +1 Invitational. Senior Maros Horny and junior John Collins begin the season ranked 36th in doubles after winning the USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional in October.

    Terps are one of seven Atlantic Coast Conference teams ranked in the top-45 nationally.


    Richmond

    The Spiders lost to William & Mary, 4-3, in their season opener Tuesday afternoon. Richmond was picked sixth by the Atlantic 10 head coaches.

    Richmond features Atlantic 10 second-team member Jesse Feder. Feder completed his sophomore season with a team-leading 11-6 record in dual match singles play at the No. 2 position.


    Louisville

    No. 30 Louisville Cardinals (0-0, 0-0 Big East)

    The defending Big East champions open the season against Austin Peay and Xavier Thursday evening in Louisville.

    The Cardinals feature 113th-ranked Andrew Carter and the 24th-ranked doubles team of Sebastian Stiefelmeyer and Andrew Carter.
