CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Senior Maros Horny and junior John Collins captured the Maryland men's tennis team's first United State Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (USTA/ITA) Atlantic Regional doubles championship in school history Tuesday with a straight set victory. With the win, Horny and Collins secure and automatic berth to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships. It marks the program's first-ever trip to the event.

"I'm really happy for Maros and John," said head coach Kyle Spencer. "It's a great moment for John who gets to represent his home-state university on the national stage. Our guys played a great match and they are deserving of the automatic regional bid. This is another step for Maryland tennis in establishing our program nationally. "

In the final, Horny and Collins defeated Virginia's Drew Courtney and Julen Uriguen 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). The USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships is hosted by Columbia at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. The tournament begins Friday, Nov. 3.
