Louisville Knocks Off Maryland

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Maryland men's tennis team was in search of its third victory of the season over a nationally-ranked opponent, but Louisville got four wins in singles to outlast the visiting Terrapins, 5-2, Monday.
The 28th-ranked Cardinals (10-9), who played nine of their last 10 on the road, won at No. 1, 3, 4 and 5 singles, including Austen Childs 6-1, 6-2 victory over Maryland's Maros Horny, the 75th-ranked player in the nation, in the top spot.
Wyss battled past Viktor Maksimcuk 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 at No. 2 singles, while Kiuru came back from a set down to defeat Andrew Carter 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) at the No. 6 position.
Alejandro Calligari's straight-set win (6-3, 6-3) over the Terps' Tommy Laine at No. 5 singles clinched the match for Louisville which snapped a three-game losing skid, though all of the defeats occurred to teams in the nation's top 35.
The Terps will turn right around and play at 14th-ranked Kentucky on Tuesday. Maryland faces the Wildcats at noon.
