AUSTIN, Texas - The 38th-ranked Maryland men's tennis team fell to 31st-ranked Michigan, 4-0, Sunday in the consolation match of the Texas Regional of ITA Kick-Off Weekend at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center. Michigan picked up the first win of the match at No. 3 doubles and earned the team point after 22nd-ranked Evan King and Shaun Bernstein defeated Maryland's 36th-ranked team of Maros Horny and John Collins. At No. 1 singles, Horny lost to sixth-ranked King, 6-4, 6-4, after the Wolverines secured a victory at No. 5 singles. Alex Petrone knocked off freshman Vlad Stefan in straight sets to secure the match for Michigan. Matches at No. 2, 4 and 6 singles were suspended. Collins held a 1-0 lead in the third set at No. 2 singles before the match was called. The Terps will have a week off before playing host to the second-ranked Virginia Cavaliers Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Tennis Center at College Park.
