As a Sophomore (2011-12): Appeared primarily in fall tournament play reaching the doubles final at the Georgetown Classic (9/25) and the doubles final in the gold bracket at the UVa Classic (10/16)...tallied four singles win and five doubles victories...paired with Tommy Laine at No. 2 doubles at home against Virginia's Steven Rooda and Justin Shane (4/20).
As a Freshman (2010-11): Saw action predominantly in doubles ... posted four singles wins in fall tournaments ... defeated Howard University's Bogdan Dzakovic 6-3, 6-2 in the dual season (Jan. 30) ... recorded nine doubles victories, seven at No. 2 doubles.
Before Maryland: Started playing in the Czech Republic... moved to South Carolina and began training at VDM Tennis Academy... ranked as high as 6th in the state of South Carolina.
Personal: Hails from the Czech Republic.... parents are Juraj Surovic and Marcela Surovicova ... has one brother and one sister... majoring in Economics, but is interested in Business... chose Maryland because of the great academics and strong business program... would like to be a cornerstone of building Maryland's tennis program.
