Terrapins Men's Tennis Falls to Duke

DURHAM, N.C. --The 18th-ranked Duke men's tennis team kicked off its ACC season with a 7-0 shutout of Maryland on Saturday at the Duke Tennis Stadium. The win betters the Blue Devils' record to 5-3 on the season and 1-0 in the ACC, while Maryland falls to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Duke quickly won at all three doubles positions and at all six singles in just two sets, led by freshman Doug Root. Root teamed with sophomore Jordan Wile for a 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles, before producing a 7-6, 6-2 win over Dale Cathell at No. 1 singles.
