CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Maryland men's swimming and diving team ran up against a tough North Carolina squad Friday and fell to the Tar Heels, 171-98.

Despite the loss, the Terps had several stellar performances on the afternoon. Andrew Relihan continued to shine for Maryland, winning the 200 back (1:50.79) and placing third in the 200 IM (1:54.83). Mitch Challacombe remains Maryland's top competitor in the short free events, tying for a second-place finish in the 50 free (21.41).

Nick Evans stepped up big once again as the freshman finished third in the 1000 free (9:38.98).

"We swam with a lot of pride...UNC has a great deal of depth," head coach Sean Schimmel said. "We came here as a team and stayed on-par as far as preparing for the Terrapin Cup and closing out the fall season on a high note."

Maryland returns home for a dual meet versus intrastate rivals Towson and UMBC next Friday.
