An Academic
Tradition of Excellence
Not only is the Maryland swimming and diving program thriving in the water, it is also one of the top academic teams in the nation.
The women’s squad was named a 2010 CSCAA Scholar All-American team after boasting a 3.2 team grade point average. In addition, Ginny Glover, Laura Wright, Patty DeScenza, Alexa Hamilton, Mitch Challacombe, Aleksandar Damjanic, Brian Honore and Chris Rouchard all earned Scholar All-American status individually.
Damjanic was also twice selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Men's At-Large Team after posting a 3.95 GPA while majoring in International Business.
Maryland also regularly makes a solid showing on the ACC All-Academic list. In 2010, Damjanic, Challacombe, and Ryan Greene joined women’s team members Fittin and Hamilton on the prestigious list.
