Terps Men's Soccer Awarded with No. 2 Seed in NCAA Tournament

Nov. 17, 2008

Complete 2008 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament Bracket

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Maryland men's soccer team got its second bit of good news in as many days Monday, being tabbed as the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament after being crowned ACC champions on Sunday in Cary, N.C.

The Terps, 18-3-0, have now secured their seventh-straight seed and look to extend their prestigious six-year streak by being the only team in the country to earn a seed and reach at least the third round of the tournament.

Maryland will utilize its first round bye and face the winner of George Mason (13-6-2) and Penn (11-2-4) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25 at Ludwig Field in College Park. Other seeded squads in the Terps' bracket include No. 7 Creighton, No. 15 UC Santa Barbara, and a team that Maryland has already faced twice this season, including in the ACC Championship game, No. 10 Virginia.

The NCAA Tournament berth is the 14th appearance for head coach Sasho Cirovski.
