Winston-Salem, N.C. - Maryland senior midfielder Rob Birch (West Islip, N.Y.) was honored with second team all-ACC recognition Wednesday night at the 2000 ACC men's soccer banquet, which is held in conjunction with the conference's annual tournament. Birch has been a stronghold for the Terps this season in the midfield, even scoring three goals and two assists. The conference honor is the first for Birch in his career, and marked the only Terp to earn all-ACC honors this week.

The No. 6 seed Terrapins take on No. 3 seed Duke Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Wake Forest. No. 2 seed Virginia and No. 7 seed NC State begin the action at 3:00 p.m., with No. 4 seed Clemson and host No. 5 seed Wake Forest wrapping things up at 8 p.m. No. 1 seed North Carolina receives a bye for the first round and awaits the winner of the Clemson/Wake Forest game to begin their ACC action on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
