"Yesterday, I said that if we win this national championship, I'll have a warm and fuzzy feeling for about 48 hours. I guess I lied because I'm going to feel pretty good for the next nine months. It's kind of a numbing feeling at this point because so much of the emotion went right out after the game."

"I'll tell you this now: I love my guys, I love my university, I love my program, I love my players. One of the lessons you try to teach in this sport is the lesson of persistence. We have a saying in the locker room that says, 'The greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time you fall.' This program has shown that. We go out and play the best teams. We try to play soccer that is appreciated by the fans, appreciated by the media, appreciated by our players. For us to show this level of persistence in this day of parity and to come back here and to I believe rightfully win this game."

"I was proud of the way we played. The national championship game is not always going to be the most artistic game, and yet we tried to attack, we tried to get chances, we tried to play the right way. I'm really proud of that. I need to congratulate New Mexico on a great season and a great ascension into the elite ranks of college soccer because they're going to be a program that's going to be around for a long time. They have great fans, they have great coaches and they have great players. We look forward to playing them in the future."

On the penalty kick:
"He opened up and from that point on I knew he was going to my left and I just tried to get there."

Senior forward Mark Burch
On scoring the goal: "I was just trying to keep the ball in frame, really. Keep it in frame and get a lot of power behind it and hopefully a rebound, a reflection, anything. It resulted in a goal, which was the best thing that could happen."

Jason Garey
On Chris Seitz:
"He's been amazing. He's earned everything he's gotten. He's got a great future. He made some amazing saves today, the kind of saves that you need to make to win big games and he's been doing that all year."

On winning the national championship:
"I don't think it's sunk in yet. For four years we've been working out and practicing almost every day with this as your goal and we've come short so many times. It was an unbelievable feeling to see that clock tick down and he's got the ball in his hands. We knew it was over. It was the greatest feeling. We're really going to enjoy this. It's a great way to end our career for all the seniors."
