Men's Soccer Picks Up First ACC Victory

RALEIGH, N.C. - Two quick second-half goals by Maryland lifted the Terps to a 3-0 win over NC State in the Wolfpack's ACC opener today at Method Road Soccer Stadium. Forward Taylor Twellman scored twice for the Terps, who improve to 4-2 overall (1-1 ACC).
Maryland took an early lead in the game following Twellman's first goal at the 11:20 mark. In the second half, senior midfielder Steve Armas gave the Terps a 2-0 lead after a breakaway goal at the 76:40 mark. Nearly a minute later, Twellman scored the game-winner on an assist from sophomore Kirk Miller.
The game was marked by physical play. A total of eight yellow cards were issued, while the two teams accounted for 33 fouls. Maryland goalkeeper Christian Lewis recorded six saves in the game, while NC State's Eric Handley had five.
