As a Sophomore in 1999: Almost a year and a half of waiting paid off for Kevin Schmidt when he answered the call to step in for injured starter Christian Lewis for five games prior to that, Schmidt had seen his first collegiate action against Marshall on Sept. 29 where he tallied one save and gave up no goals in 29 minutes during his five-game starting stint, he compiled a 4-1-0 record, giving up three goals and compiling 21 saves.
As a Freshman in 1998: Schmidt was tough in practice as the backup goalie behind Christian Lewis, who played every minute the Terrapins were on the field.
