Former Terps Earn Caps With United States Men's Soccer National Team

Former Maryland men's soccer standouts Dan Califf and Maurice Edu earned caps with the United States National Team in recent friendlies against England, Spain, and Argentina. Edu earned time in all three matches with a start against Spain while Califf was in the starting 11 versus Argentina.

Four incoming freshmen on the Maryland men's soccer team have been named PARADE All-Americans, announced May 25. Kaoru Forbess, Matt Kassel, Zac MacMath, and Casey Townsend each earned the honor after stellar senior seasons in high school. It is the second appearance on the All-America team for Forbess and MacMath and the third for Townsend.

Edu, Seitz Lead U-23 Team To Olympics

The Maryland men's soccer team took its first ever spring trip to Florida in early March and it was a successful one as the Terrapins went 2-0-1 with wins against the United States U-17 National Team and Connecticut. The Terps opened the trip with a scoreless draw against Creighton. Maryland will play three more matches in April to close out the spring season.

The Maryland Men's Soccer Alumni and Friends Weekend presents the Third Annual Sasho's Caddy Shack Classic and party to be held on May 2. The alumni soccer game will be held the following day on May 3 at Ludwig Field. Registration is now open for the weekend.

Former Maryland men's soccer standouts Maurice Edu and Chris Seitz led the United States Under-23 Men's National Team to a 3-1-1 record in the 2008 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying tournament, earning the red, white and blue a bid to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Edu serves as a captain for the team and Seitz allowed just one goal in the three games he started in net.

Townsend Joins Terps In Spring

Maryland men's soccer head coach Sasho Cirovski has announced what will undoubtedly be one of the top recruiting classes in the nation as eight student-athletes will join the Terrapins in 2008. Five student-athletes are NSCAA high school All-Americans and four of them have spent time with United States Youth National Teams. Included in the class is Casey Townsend, who joined Maryland in the spring semester and is ranked the No. 6 recruit in the country according to Rise Magazine.

Seven former Maryland men's soccer players have been invited to their respective United States National Team training camps, announced December 31 by US Soccer. Four Terrapins were called to the National Team training camp while three more were summoned to the U-23 National Team camp. The Terps and UCLA are the two college programs with the most invites in the nation.
