COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland track teams will travel to Fairfax, Va. to compete at the George Mason Invitational this Saturday.

The meet will mark the Terps' final chance to prepare for the ACC Indoor Championships, which will be held Feb. 16-17. The teams will look to continue to build upon the recent momentum garnered from strong performances in the last several weeks.

Junior Ruth Kura (North Potomac, Md.) has broken the school record and provisionally qualified for NCAA competition at three consecutive competitions. Her latest record-breaking toss of 61-10 1/2 at the Penn State National Open was more than four feet better than the closest competitor.

Two weeks ago, both the men's and women's teams finished fifth at the Doug Raymond Invitational, hosted by Kent State University. Senior high jumper Vanessa Jones (Olney, Md.), the 2000 ACC Champion, won the high jump competition for the fourth consecutive time with a leap of 5-9 3/4.

This weekend's competition will begin Saturday at 10 a.m.
