July 18, 2008
GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Five members of the University of Maryland men's lacrosse team were named to the 2008 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic team as announced by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Leading the way for the Terps was redshirt junior Jeff Reynolds, who was one of seven student-athletes who were earned both All-Academic and All-ACC honors for 2008. Joining Reynolds on the team from Maryland are senior Drew Evans, junior Jeremy Sieverts and sophomores Brian Farrell and Brian Phipps. All five Terps are repeat selections.
Virginia senior Ben Rubeor, a senior English major, was named the conference's men's lacrosse scholar athlete of the year. He is a three-time ACC All-Academic team selection and a first-team selection to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III At-Large team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Eighteen (18) members of the 2008 squad were repeat honorees from last year's All-ACC Academic team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
Joining Reynolds and Rubeor as student-athletes who earned both All-Academic and All-Conference honors in 2008 are Duke's Matt Danowski, Tony McDevitt, Max Quinzani, North Carolina's Grant Zimmerman, and Virginia's Danny Glading.
