Walters Nets Hat Trick In Team USA's 25-5 Win Over England At ILF World Championships

July 15, 2006

London, Ontario - Game two was more of the same for Team USA and former Terp All-American Joe Walters, as the American squad dominated England, 25-5, in the second game of round-robin group play at the ILF World Championships in London, Ontario.

Walters tallied his first international hat trick, including the United States' only two powerplay goals. The Rochester, N.Y., native, helped the U.S. jump out to an early lead with the team's fourth goal in the first quarter off an assist from Matt Striebel. He would then go on to tack on two powerplay goals in the fourth quarter.

Through two games, Walters is fourth on the team with eight points on five goals and three assists. Ryan Powell and Mike Powell lead the squad with 12 points each, while Scott Urick is third with nine points, all on goals.

The U.S. team is expected to face it toughest challenge tomorrow when it faces Canada at 4 p.m. at TD Waterhouse Stadium. Four years ago the United States beat Canada 18-15 for the gold medal.

The game will be televised on CSTV and you can also follow the action live on Insidelacrosse.com.
