Maryland Men's Lacrosse Ranked No. 1 In USILA Poll
March 26, 2001 COLLEGE PARK, Md - With its perfect 6-0 start, the Maryland men's lacrosse team is ranked No. 1 in the USILA Poll for the week of March 26. The Terps moved up from the No. 3 spot after beating North Carolina, 11-7, last Saturday at Byrd Stadium. The Terps are off to the team's best start since the 1998 season, when they started 8-0. This week's ranking marks the first time the Terps have been ranked No. 1 since they were ranked at the top of the USILA poll for two consecutive weeks from April 20-April 26 and April 27-May 3, 1998. Maryland now stakes claim to the No. 1 ranking in both men's and women's lacrosse. The six-time defending women's team is 7-0. The Maryland men return to action on Tuesday, as they face No. 13 Bucknell at 4 p.m. at Byrd Stadium. The game was originally scheduled for March 6, but was moved to March 27 due to snow and poor weather conditions earlier this month.
