On Hoffman: A veteran defender who will be given an opportunity to play on the man-down unit this season … a three-year player who continues to battle hard for playing time … an excellent student. As a junior (2001): Saw action in seven games … scooped up three groundballs with one each against Air Force (2/24), Duke (3/4) and UMBC (5/5) … member of the ACC Honor Roll and Maryland Honor Roll. As a sophomore (2000): Played in two games … saw action in season opener against Mount St. Mary’s (2/27), gaining his first groundball … also played at UMBC (5/6) in regular-season finale.
