2003 Update: On Daue: One of the most improved players this spring … looking to rebound from a tough junior season after a breakout sophomore campaign, in which he saw his first regular college playing time … great hitter, who was awarded the 2002 “Hammer Award” for his outstanding hits … with his height (6-5), is a quick player and pretty good dodger from the wing … can invert well … expected to be a key contributor, who could score 20 goals, according to Dave Cottle … missed two-thirds of his freshman season after undergoing corrective heart surgery during the spring of 2000, but has made a full recovery. As a junior (2002): Ran on the Terps’ second midfield line, playing in all 13 games … totaled two goals and three points, taking 18 shots … netted first goal of the season vs. Delaware (3/16) … scored behind-the-back goal at No. 3 Johns Hopkins (4/13), to open the scoring … assisted Ryan Moran’s goal in the second quarter at UMBC (5/4) for only helper of the season … member of the ACC Honor Roll and the Maryland Honor Roll. As a sophomore (2001): Played in all 16 games, predominantly seeing time on the second midfield … recorded seven goals and three assists for 10 points … scored two goals for first time in his career in season opener against Air Force (2/24), netting both of his shots … scored first career game-winning goal in 9-7 win at Towson (3/10) … tallied his second goal of the game with 5:27 left in regulation at Towson to clinch the win … first assist of the season came at Navy (4/7) … also assisted on an Andrew “Buggs” Combs goal in the ACC title game against Duke (4/22) … scored fifth goal of the year at Mount St. Mary’s (4/25) … tallied second game-winning goal in 14-4 win over UMBC (5/5), adding an assist against the Retrievers … scored third career goal vs. Towson (5/20) in NCAA quarterfinal to give the Terps a 10-9 lead late in the third quarter.
