CAMBRIDGE, Md. - The Maryland Men's Golf team finished fifth in the inauagural Maryland Intercollegiate golf tournament and Ethan Tracy of Arkansas set a competitive course record with a 7-under-par 64 and following with a 68 to earn the individual championship Sunday.

The event, shortened to 36 holes due to Tropical Storm Hanna, was played in two rounds Sunday at the River Marsh Golf Course at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort.

Arkansas used identical rounds of 12-under 272 to finish at 544 and win the team standings by 20 strokes. NC State was second at 564 with VCU in third at 565.

Host Maryland finished fifth in the team standings at 575, one stroke behind North Carolina.

Tracy won the individual championship by four strokes over teammate David Lingmerth (69-67--136) and Corey Roberson of Texas State (67-69--136). His 64 broke the competitive course record of former assistant pro and Maryland alumnus Phil Fenstermaker, who had a 65.

Individually for Maryland, sophomore Andrew Kay had rounds of 73 and 70 to tie for 17th at 143. Donnie Shin tied for 30th at 145 after opening with a 70, while freshman John Popek finished with a 70 to tie for 32nd at 146.

Brendan Tracy tied for 50th at 149 and Chris Gold closed with a 69 to tie for 73rd at 155.
